HPCA, with funding from Open Society Institute (IPCI & LAHI) and Open Society Foundation for South Africa, have produced a manual, showcasing a joint effort in the fields of law and palliative care to make key legal/medical issues accessible to anyone seeking to improve their understanding of the impact of life-limiting illness.
In caring for vulnerable populations, practitioners have become aware of the impact of human rights violations on health. The book offers guidance on policy and ways to improve the identification and referral of legal problems, with the ultimate aim of integrating this knowledge into the practice of high-quality palliative care and legal services. The book is launched in July in Cape Town with a panel discussion between speakers, all contributors to the manual. Most chapters were co-authored by legal and palliative care practitioners.
